If you are looking for a way to pick up some value sessions for the faculty progression structure, Skillsoft may be just for you. I have used the Skillsoft site to do some of the required courses for the college, remember Slips, Trips and Falls, while also picking up some professional development hours. These courses can be completed when you have time and only take about an hour or so. According to Tim Derozier “The intent of our Values courses here at NWTC, and by association the Values requirement on the Faculty Progression Structure document, is really to promote NWTC’s intended culture by helping all employees understand what it means to live NWTC’s values in the way we apply them here at the college. The important thing in considering the courses you listed is that you were able to take away specific growth ideas in the behaviors the college has deemed as critical to each value.” Some of the courses I have completed that were counted for value sessions are; Listening Essentials: Improving Your Listening Skills and Critical Thinking Essentials: Applying Critical Thinking Skills. There are others such as Workplace Conflict, Giving Constructive Criticism, Working with Difficult People, that in talking with Matt Peterson may also qualify as value sessions.
